A Hunger Artist

Congrats to the cast and crew of “A Hunger Artist” on a successful run! Directed by Yibin Wang and adapted by Michael Landes, this play explored the nature of artistry and begged the question: can we ever be fully sated as artists? It was wonderful to see how this piece resonated with our audience members. We also received some great reviews, which I’ll link below along with some production photos!

Wang’s concept and direction masterfully force us to confront the reality of the modern-day artist and observer. The live-stream format simultaneously introduces the idea of anonymity and intensifies the level of observation, letting Kafka’s questions feel even more poignant. It’s an incredible achievement from all involved.

The manager, exasperated, suggests that he tell viewers he’s “doing art,” because “it makes it important… kind of.” (Blake perfectly times the delivery of this line, and it’s incredible.)
